Telephone service is out in my area. AT&T's online tool says:

We are experiencing a service outage in your area.

Service will be restored by 8:00 PM Saturday, June 21.**

Four days without telephone service? *shrug* Call me at work or on cell if you need me; I'll try to remember to leave the cell on.

ETA: Just used my cell phone to call the repair number to see if a human could tell me more. The automated screening program asked me if I was getting a dial tone. After pressing 2 for no, it asked me if I was calling from the number that was having trouble... *sigh*

go through the system, punch in the phone number, and when it says, "a repair ticket has been opened" press 0, it will punch you through to an operator, failing that, hang up, call right back in, and "report" the line again, it treats it as a status check which again takes you to a live person.

Also, makes notes of when your line is down, and when your next bill comes in, call in and demand credit for the outage days. They will give it to you usually without you having to turn blue in the face.

We have old lines out by my work, and our lines go down or have problems on almost a monthly basis. I know all teh tricks

I miss the days when I worked for Metro in Dallas and could call and talk to the tech himself whenever we needed him.

Seems as if "tool" is indeed the operative word here.
