Stressful Evening

Feeling much less flat today. Even tackled my screen repair this evening. The shattered old screen shattered quite a bit more in the removal process, making it a royal PITA to remove. I ended up basically ripping it off with my hands after a point. I sure hope this one sticks better than the Pixel 4a screen I replaced (also with an iFixIt kit).

The earth movers sure moved some more earth today. I can't figure out quite what they're trying to accomplish, though they do seem to have built a driveway for one of the lots. Today they used the rolling compactor for a while, which was alarming as it vibrates my house quite a bit.

I'm glad King Narcissist Poopy-Pants didn't get us all nuked this evening, but I'm sure he's going to keep trying.

Yeah, those Sunday plans went out the window, as Sunday and Monday have ended up being my designated "Bear of Little Brain" COVID days. I took in an amusing Netflix Polish sitcom called "1670" and finished season 4 of Resident Alien with Josh, and today I finished 1670 and my library book, plus I've been watching 5 Cats tear up the field next door in prep for the (I think) 3 new houses they're going to build this summer. Step one was tearing out the invasive and thorny autumn olive that I had to aggressively cut back from the edge of my yard each year, which was delightful to watch. Now they're just making a mud field. While I'm not thrilled with losing our field and hill view, it will at least cut way down on the lawn weeding.

This morning I discovered my sense of smell mostly disappeared, which is a first for my COVID cases. I can just barely smell an orange if I put my nose on it. I discovered the issue when I went to make some rose cardamom tea this morning and a sniff of the usually quite delightfully potent tin smelled like nothing at all. I do hope it comes back soon.

COVID in the hooouuuse! (Boo.) Josh came down with it early last week, and my body's been fighting, but I finally got the positive test today. Ya gotta love when the test solution wicks up the paper strip and you don't even have to wait the 15 minutes because the test line is immediately bright pink. But at least that means I get to kiss my sweetie on our anniversary!

We took a walk today, but that and cooking a thing tuckered me right out. Tomorrow's jobs are picking up pre-order groceries and prescriptions, and replacing my broken-ass phone screen finally. It's started occasionally making me press really hard to register.

Got surprised this morning by a local daily's article on my company (and the customer that acquired us a few months ago and the new regional company they just acquired). Not a personal fan of the heavy emphasis on "Golden Dome", particularly when we all know such government programs are massively fickle even in good times (and we're already seeing that in shorter cycles in these bad times), but I'll happily work the commercial and civil government projects. Also cringing that they dead-named the city where that pictured antenna is (it's Utqiagvik now), but we need to change the habit internally before our team will remember to change it for external stories.
