It looks like Tropical Depression #5 is heading our way for potential landfall on Tuesday.

It probably won't have too much time to strengthen past a tropical storm. (But then Humberto, last year, went from depression to hurricane in 24 hours.)

It's worse than that.

Two things about this depression that disturbs me. One, Humberto formed from collection of thunderstorms off the Texas coast to Cat 1 hurricane in just 14 hours. And two, this current depression is forming in roughly the same place as Alica did in 1983. Alica started as a depression off the coast of Louisiana on the 8/15/1983 to hitting just west of Galveston on the 18th as a Cat 3 hurricane. That's 3 days.
