An open-captioned version of The Queen shown at a free film festival for the deaf in Australia turned heads because many of the captions were... well, you'll just have to read the article.

"When Prince Philip spoke of how 'people removed their hats' as he drove past, it became 'people removed their heads'. "Buckingham Palace" appeared several times as 'Burking in Paris'."

Ever watch TV with the closed captioning on? We do all the time because Dale's ears are plugged up most of the time. I like it for two reasons:
1. I get more things. I never realized how much I missed things, spoken quickly, quietly, whatever, before using CC all the time.
2. Interpretations are hilarious! There's always some sort of error that's HUGE in every production (like the one you mentioned above). I also like to see them decipher things like "eery music" or "footsteps.":

I have a whole collection of caption bloopers. One day I am going to write a book with all the bloopers I've found.

Back in the day when I did TV traffic reports, we had 4 TVs in my studio so I could watch all the morning shows, and we kept captions on all of the sets.

My very favorite (and the one which will probably be the title of the book) was "Gandhi, freedom fighter for Indiana".
