I picked up The Complete Peanuts, 1963-1964 today. Besides finding the strip from the day I was born (a fairly non-descript baseball-related one showing Charlie Brown giving up a hit and being knocked clothesless on the mound), I found the following gem. It's almost as if he were writing to me through Charlie Brown writing to Joe Shlabotnik:

I've always been amazed by the pitch-perfect emotion and humor Schulz managed to combine in his comics. He was so ahead of his time.
