...when WKRP in Cincinnati will be coming out on DVD, how about next April?

Yes, there will be music replacements, but according to the article, series creator Hugh Wilson has heard some of it and thinks they did a good job.

That's one of my holy grail of DVD releases! Come on, Max Headroom and Made in Canada!

I do hope they did a better job than they did on the VHS version. The music they picked for that was awful.

I personally really wish they'd just bite the bullet and license the original music though.

I'd love to have the original music too, but the fees have gotten outrageously expensive., to the point where using the original music on WKRP could turn that $50 boxset into an $80 boxset... per season.

What I want to know is: is it the composers or the artists that drive the higher licensing fees? If it's the artists, the studios should just spring for cover bands...
