U.S. readers will be wondering why I'm wishing people a happy Thanksgiving*. So, for your benefit, please substitute "Columbus Day" (or "Fair Day" for those in the Dallas area with schoolkids) for "Thanksgiving*".
Last Thanksgiving*, I was in Toronto, sharing a 2-bedroom house with 8 other people, and loving it because I was with my best friends. Happy Thanksgiving, y'all! Can't wait till next summer!
Move update: I go to Houston on the 16th to find a place, and will move the next weekend.
* I am, of course, referring to Canadian Thanksgiving.
I leave you with a quote from An American in Canada, showing now on quality PBS stations and KERA.
------
"What day is it today?"
"Tuesday."
"And what day was yesterday?"
"Hmm, Monday."
"Monday! And I was here. Where were you? In fact, where was everyone?"
"It was Thanksgiving."
"No, Thanksgiving is in November. Yesterday was Monday."
"Not in Canada."
"Everytime there's a holiday in this country, you put it on the wrong day! I mean, I had to work the 4th of July this year because you put it on the first! You didn't tell me! I can hardly wait to find out where you people put Christmas!"
