I was in a particularly foul mood Thursday night (and that's why I missed your shindig, [livejournal.com profile] wyrdfae -- next time for sure!) thanks mostly to the traffic on the trip home. It's only a 5.4 mile commute, but it seems like everyone in Houston was in front of me, driving like maniacs. Or honking the instant the light turns green.

I remember thinking "I am rapidly losing my ability to cope with living in this [expletive] hellhole."

Well, a mile on the treadmill made me feel a little better, and yesterday chatting with [livejournal.com profile] smart_ted, whom I haven't seen on line in ages, helped too. Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] smart_ted! :)

Oh, yes, [livejournal.com profile] ladyrednose is home from her surgery and doing better. :)

This morning, I was digging through my change, and found within the pennies a Canadian penny. But not just any Canadian penny: a 1937 penny with the head of George VI on it. This was the first Canadian coin with George VI on it, and there were 10,191,231 of them minted. It's been very well circulated, and is probably not worth anything more than 1ยข. But it's the novelty, like finding a pre-1960 Lincoln penny with the wheat on the tails side.
