Woke up this morning to the sound of spraying water in the kitchen. Half-awake me went in the kitchen, listened for the source, determined it was near the fridge, figured it was defrosting and went back to bed.

Woke up an hour and a half later to the same sound of spraying water in the kitchen. Half-awake me went into the kitchen, noticed my feet were getting wet, and woke up prety quickly.

Turns out the tube running from the water junction under the sink to the refrigerator had burst, spraying hot water (!) inside one of my cabinets (empty, fortunately). I dried off the floor mat, brought in a couple of towels to soak up what was in the floor, and found the shut-off valve.

I still haven't heard back from my landlady. I told her it wasn't urgent, since it looks like the only thing that cutoff valve affects is the icemaker, and I don't use it (not really a fan of ice in already-cold drinks). Hopefully it won't cut off the dishwasher too (since it's also fed from the same area).

After the kitchen and I were both dried out, my upstairs neighbor Lance took me in his truck to IKEA, where I bought three BILLY bookcases. Thanks to the semi-annual sale, they were reduced to $79, and I got them with a combination of Christmas money and the gift card my co-workers in Dallas got me when I left.

What else? I dubbed Talking to Americans to DVD, went to Katy Mills and bought a calendar and [livejournal.com profile] rachelcaine's three books, which I have been meaning to buy for a while but haven't gotten a Round Tuit.
