Reader's Digest condensed trip notes
Jul. 27th, 2004 08:43 pmI have been asked for a trip report. Well, here 'tis:
Saturday: Flew to Pittsburgh, got car, went to cemetery where Mr. Rogers is entombed, went to Flight 93 memorial, drove to Staunton VA, slept poorly on soft bed.
Sunday: Went to Monticello, lunch in Arlington VA, drove down Maryland's Eastern Shore, wound up in Williamsburg VA.
Monday: Drove to Richmond, couldn't see the inside of the State Capitol (didn't open until 9), drove to Emporia, Franklin, Murfreesboro (NC), Kitty Hawk, Norfolk, took the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, wound up in Salisbury MD.
Tuesday: Drove to Annapolis, saw State House, drove to Dover, saw Legislative Hall, drove to Trenton, saw the rotunda of the State House, had an authentic Philly cheesesteak, stayed overnight in King of Prussia.
Wednesday: Drive to Hurley, NY, couldn't find where Darren was buried, went to Albany, saw the inside of the State Capitol, drove to Hill Cumorah, crossed uneventfully into Canada, stayed overnight in Mississauga.
Thursday: Did some shopping, met up with Jeffy and
ejumean at Ryerson, went to Casino Rama and met up with
fapiece and
ladycrim, and
lynnita and her mom (who won almost $5,000 on slots!), and we all saw Drew Carey and the Improv All-Stars (Greg Proops, Colin Mochrie, Brad Sherwood, Chip Esten, Laura Hall, Sean Masterson). Back to Toronto, bed about 2:30.
Friday: Met up with
lynnita at Yorkdale, went back to Ryerson,
jaala met us, we ate at Eaton Centre, shopped at HMV, went to bed.
Saturday: Shopping at the World's Biggest Bookstore (a converted bowling alley, and technically the world's largest bookstore under one roof) and at Sam the Record Man, saw Theatresports at the Bad Dog Theatre, saw the Second City show with special guest Joe Flaherty (consensus: the "Sammy Maudlin Show" segment was OK, but overlong). HEINO!
Sunday: Played improv games on stage at the Bad Dog, got a pizza and movies, watched Jane White is Sick and Twisted, said goodbye to
lynnita, went to bed.
Monday: Got up at 6, left Ryerson at 7, crossed uneventfully back into the USA, drove to Pittsburgh, got my flight, arrived home, went to bed.
Trip stats: 3240 miles, 80 new counties, finished Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Labels will come later for these:
