Any suggestions on what to do with a computer that's running hot? Specifically it's one of my hard drives (my second drive, thank goodness). It's running right now at 48° (has been as high as 55°) whereas the master drive is running at 43°. The MB sensors are at 35°, 32° and 37°, so I don't think they're the problem. I first noticed my comp. running erratically yesterday afternoon. Today I have the cover off and it seems to help a little.

(feh: as I type this, the sensor dropped from 48° to 39°. Now I'm even more confused.)

Don't really want to buy a new HD, but if I have to, I will.

(double feh: the sensor jumped from 39° to 50°.) Methinks my drive is getting flaky. Sigh.

Have you checked how well the fan is working?

The fans seem to be working OK. There is a baffle that sends the output of the CPU fan to the external fan, which (it seems to me) restricts airflow coming from the rest of the machine. So I'm working with the baffle off right now.

Right now (10 minutes after power-up after being off all night) the main drive is at 28° and the second flaky drive is at 41°.
