Apr. 19th, 2006 09:37 pmSo, without further ado, here's Joe's life in a nutshell:
Work, work, work, work, work, work, work, work, improv practice, work, work, improv show, collapse for weekend.
Improv is going very slowly right now. We still haven't picked up the audience we had going right before
improvwheels died. My theory is that the new earlier start time for the shows (7 p.m. as opposed to 8) is at least partly responsible for the drop in attendance. Now that the troupe membership is settled down once again, we need people to come see the shows! Fridays at 7 at Ziggy's Healthy Grill, West Alabama and Greenbriar. Five measly bucks! (Practice is now Thursdays, which works out much better for me, but next week that moves down to Webster, which is quite a bit further.)
Work is... work. I need to get remotivated; last month's vacation didn't do it for me, and I'm hopeful that my next vacation (end of June) will do it. Will it be in Toronto, or will it be a roadtrip to points unknown? Time and the price of gas will tell.
The motivation problem may have more to do with the current task, which is pretty tedious. We'll soon be getting a new data monitoring center, where we can monitor the traffic data from all of our cities 24x7, and we're all properly excited about that.
Otherwise I'm enjoying hanging out with the Houston Browncoats when I can. The British media/sci-fi group Several Unlimited meets on Fridays, so that's sadly out for me. I do know some of those people from my time with ORAC, so that would be at least partly familiar territory.
After last week's episode (now airing on the BBC, not the last series which is on Sci-Fi) David Tennant is growing on me as the "new new" Doctor Who.
I think I've figure out why I was getting dropouts on some of my TV channels. One of my TV cables at the back of the set was not tightened as tightly as it should have been. We'll see in the morning if HDNet is still pixellating.
Still doing "volunteer" work (in quotes because I was volunteered for it, but I don't mind doing it) for the theatre in Lewisville. I've thrown up a rough draft of a redesign of the web page for next season. Any thoughts from you webby-types? (looks at
jjloa specially)
Still working on getting ye finances in order. It's amazing what a few days in the hospital will do to throw your finances out of whack, and that's with insurance! Main roadblock is my credit card (just one with a balance, thank goodness). I've knocked 20% off its balance this year so far, mostly thanks to Uncle Sam's generous no-interest forced savings plan. Once I get it paid off I'm going to switch focus to coming up with a down payment for a house or condo. I like the complex I'm in, and my landlady has said if I ever want to buy this unit to let her know. I'dprobably definitely look for a bigger unit, though.
My sister (no LJ yet) turns 32 tomorrow.
And that's all the news that is news. Good night, and may the good news be yours!
