I have an IRA at Vanguard. This morning I received a reminder to vote in this year's sharholder election.

Among the issues to be decided is a shareholder proposal "that the board institute procedures to prevent holding investments in companies that, in the judgment of the board, substantially contribute to genocide or crimes against humanity, the most egregious violations of human rights."

Vanguard recommended I vote against that proposal. Wonder why?

...Um, possibly because businesses are typically run by amoral, solipsistic narcissists?
