Once again I ask, Can someone please give Bob Costas laryngitis?

Hearing North Korea being piped in to the tune of Scotland the Brave wins the weirdness award from this year's Olympic opening ceremonies.

My gut feeling was that they looked around for random music and found a bagpipe album.

Actually, all of the music being played for the entrance of the athletes was live. They brought in ensembles from various parts of the world, told them to come up with a three-song playlist, and then they cycled through that until everyone was in.

I know this because one of my teachers is in the mariachi band that played there. China coming in to "El son de la Negra" was every bit as goofy as North Korea coming in to "Scotland the Brave," if you ask me!

(No gamelan, though. I was sad.)
